MOTOR INDUSTRY WAGE AGREEMENT: 2022-2025

NUMSA signed a three-year wage agreement in the motor sector on Friday.

Component manufacturers:
Increases are based on actual rates of pay:
- 2022-2023: 7,5%,
- 2023-2024: 6%
- 2024-2025: 6%.
The increase is backdated to 1 September 2022.

Garage Workers
Increases for this sector are subject to the Minister of Mineral Resources & Energy approving and implementing a retail margin adjustment to for additional wage adjustment.

Forecourt Attendants increases:
- 2022-2023: 7,5%,
- 2023-2024: 6%
- 2024-2025: 6%.

Cashiers increases:
- 2022-2023: 5%,
- 2023-2024: 4%
- 2024-2025: 4%.

If the Minister approves the 2023 and 2024 will be increased by an additional 1%.

Car dealerships
Increases are based on minimum rates of pay only, for each relevant grade:
- 2022-2023: 6.5%,
- 2023-2024: 5%
- 2024-2025: 5%.

All other sectors
Increases are based on minimum rates of pay. Employees earning in excess of minimum rates of pay will receive guaranteed monetary increases equal to the value of the increase in the minimum rate of pay:
- 2022-2023: 6.5%,
- 2023-2024: 5%
- 2024-2025: 5%.

Expiry of the agreement: 31 August 2025.

The Minister will be approached to gazette the extension of the agreement to non-parties.
